This gives a chance to add a few more photos of yesterday's outing. At the duomo for 4 Euros (senior rate) you can take a lift to the roof and clamber around. The process of cleaning the stone is well under way.

The lift was more inviting.

Sady most of the photos of the Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele ll, inaugurated in 1867 are on my other camera. It is a very impressive cross shaped structure about 3 stories tall with an amasing floor. The shops and restaurants are classy.

Stunning old buildings. This city looks very different from your last trip. Those stairs look scary too. From your photos It doesn't appear too busy.

No cars are allowed in around the duomo and Galleria especially the streets just behind. The church square is one huge open space with one statue on it. I wouldn't be afraid to drive on Milsm during Sugust as many take their holidays during this warm month. A lot of small shops are closed during August or part of.
